While cruising YouTube today I discovered that Andrew Jackson Jihad does a cover of David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust" from the classic Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars album. An acoustic affair from a show in Montreal a few weeks ago: the guys in AJJ totally killed it. The only unfortunate part of this video is that the audience appears to be talking while they're playing, which (in my opinion) is an incredibly rude thing to do. You've got to love the dudes holding up their lighters though, that's not really in the spirit of the song but it's still decidedly awesome. It seems like it would be an odd fit for a folk-punk band to attempt to cover something like Bowie, but surprisingly Sean Bonnette has enough conviction in his vocals to really make it work.
