In an interesting deviation of style, the Los Angeles-based goth chanteuse known as Chelsea Wolfe will be releasing a fully acoustic followup to last year's Ἀποκάλυψις on Pendu Sound Recordings in October. The first track to drop from these acoustic sessions is the beautiful "Flatlands." Wolfe has showed her talent in forging brutally intense hellscapes on past recordings but on this new song, she shows is just as capable of portraying haunting, confessional vulnerability. The instrumentation that makes the track is simple allowing the listener to fully grasp the power of Wolfe's words and the brilliant violin and viola played by Andrea Calderón and Ezra Buchla respectively.
