The album features the usual upbeat country tinged punk songs that the band has become known for. It also features a number of choruses that are tailor made to be sung along to. With that being said, the final track on the album, "New Kid In Town (The Tragic Cowboy Returns)" is a ballad that may make somebody out there shed a tear or two.
The new album isn't the only news to come of the Sam Coffey camp of late. He released this statement on Facebook on the date of the album release:
"Sam Coffey and The Iron Lungs, as you know it, is now finished. Other bands, geographical differences, and other bullshit is keeping us from going where we should be going. No hard feelings between us boys. It's been 5 years, thanks a ton for the memories.
I'm putting out a name-your-price album on bandcamp. It's really good and I'm super proud of this one. You should download it. http://samcoffeyandtheironlungs.bandcamp.com/album/shin-no-skin
Our last shows will be on Sept 28th in Toronto at The Garrison and on Sept 30th in Waterloo at Mongolian.
Luckily, the Sam Coffey and The Iron Lungs as Joel, Richard, Liam, Dave, and Pat know it (members of Pink Wine Sphinxs Beliefs Non-Stop Girls) is just getting started and ripping through new songs and old songs. New 6 person lineup of Sam Coffey and The Iron Lungs via Toronto will be playing our first show really soon."
Even though it sucks that this incarnation of the band is finished, it's still exciting to hear that Sam will be making music with some new faces.
So stream the album below if you want or you can head over to the band's bandacamp page and download it as a pay what you want. If you prefer a physical copy then you can order a cassette over at Slop Bop Records.
