WRUB #23: Psychic Pig Edition

A (dirty as fuck) Pig (swine) in the Ukraine (hell) has the unique ability to predict the scores of Football (Soccer) matches. YPOIW has attempted to contact the pig in an attempt to post our year end 2012 features in July but our attempts have been met with only righteous indignance and a blank stare. Once again we here at YPOIW condemn the actions of pigs everywhere and recommend eating copious amounts of bacon. We will not stop fighting our evil Pig overlords until every chop has been consumed.

What does this have to do with music you ask? FUCKING NOTHING I'M LOSING MY MIND AND PIGS ARE ASSHOLES.

Alexander Borg (@HelloAlexxander): Seeing as how they're indie music's modern analogue to the Beatles, I listened to Animal Collective's back catalog this weekend so I can savagely abuse Centipede Hz if I don't like it or heap hyperbolic amounts of praise on it if I do like it. In other words: LION IN A COMA! LION IN A COMA!

Danny Spiteri (@dannyspiterijr): I had to set aside a lot of my music listening time for Clark's Body Riddle in order to complete the review I wrote for it, but otherwise, my week was defined mostly by Cocteau Twins' angelic Treasure and Stereolab's brilliant Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements.

Kyle Shoemaker (@_Shoey): I've been listening to a bunch of new (to me) podcasts including About Last Night with Brad Williams, The Crab Feast, TalkS HIT and 5 Decisions Away with Matt Paxton. I'm completely out of spare time at this point but podcasts>music.

Mark Gillis (@Mark__Gillis): This week I've still been listening to a bunch of Weezer, I also listened to Beach House's Bloom which I thought was a really solid release. Besides those two I listened to some ever dependable Jay Reatard.

Steve Jones (@vestenet): Mostly Nine Inch Nails and Cocteau Twins for me. It's been a weird week.

WRUB #20: Froggy Baby Edition

This week, some new footage of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love playing a previously unheard song entitled "Stinking of You" surfaced onto the Internet. At one point, he holds up Frances Bean in the mirror and says "LOOK AT THE FROGGY BABY, OHWOAHOH" and it's completely adorable. Frances Bean is now 19 and I'm sure she's completely embarrassed by this video going viral, but whatever.

Austin K (@AustinKirley): I'm listening to Death Grips. Leave me alone.

Danny Spiteri (@dannyspiterijr): In addition to more Death Grips (obviously), I went on a bit of a post-punk kick, specifically with stuff like New Order's early highlights and The Feelies' first album. I also listened to Negativland's Escape From Noise in full for the first time, which was a disorienting but pleasurable experience.

Jack Hayter (@gonnahayt): Apart from Death Grips, I listened to the debut album from Kindness and I've grown addicted to Jai Paul's track "Jasmine."

Josh Custodio (@_allmyfriends): My week was controversial. I was beefing with people left and right. It made me wanna listen to old punk music. I did that.

Mark Gillis (@Mark__Gillis): Just like last week I've been listening to more Death Grips. I've also been listening to the debut album from Zammuto; that thing is so damn fun-sounding!

Steve Jones (@vestenet): I started this past week with a fucking invigorating show by Screaming Females.  The Money Store also continues to be fucking invigorating.  But the dulcet tones of the new Starry Starry Night soundtrack from World's End Girlfriend keep things in balance.

Normally I'd be writing something absurd about how Lady Gaga tried listening to Death Grips and wound up in a mental institution, but I think we're good. Alexander Borg (@HelloAlexxander): This week I the I experienced Coachella from the comfort of my air-conditioned home while everyone else fried in the desert. Radiohead killed it, St. Vincent totally convinced me to buy her Record Store Day single, Pulp proved that Jarvis Cocker has only gotten cooler with age, and Neon Indian bleep blooped like no other.

Danny Spiteri (@dannyspiterijr): I saw both Radiohead and Jeff Mangum live(!), so plenty of the former and Neutral Milk Hotel. I've also been enjoying new albums from Spiritualized, Clark, Black Dice, THEESatisfaction and, of course, DEATH GRIPS.

WRUB #15: Dominatrix Edition

Death Grips unviled their cover for their upcoming debut album The Money Store this week. This is where I usually insert some sort of joke, but I think we're all mature enough to just stare at this image until our eyeballs pop out. Though I'm worried the horse (wo)man may eat said eyeballs after the fact.

Alexander Borg (@HelloAlexxander): Due to the untimely demise of my digital music collection, I listened to a lot of vinyl this weekend: Go Sailor, Ege Bamyasi, Royal Headache, etc.

Danny Spiteri (@dannyspiterijr): I've been balancing two very different genres: jazz and punk, the former leading me to classics like John Coltrane and Miles Davis, as well as newer artists like The Cinematic Orchestra and Portico Quartet, and the latter bringing me stuff like Wire and Fugazi. And somewhere along the way came Julia Holter's great new album, Ekstasis.

Jack Hayter (@gonnahayt): For me this week has been heavily dominated by Action Bronson's excellent mixtape Blue Chips, the best hip-hop release I've heard this year. 

Kyle Shoemaker (@_Shoey): I've been revisting both Fuck Buttons albums and trying to figure out why Tarot Sport still doesn't click for me. Also, I've decided that I really love the Music Tapes debut album 1st Imaginary Symphony for Nomad which got a 2.7 from P4k. #TeamMusicTapes

WRUB #14: Freak Monkeys Edition

Westboro Baptist Church have finally done something sensible and decided to protest Radiohead's insanely high ticket prices. This protest included church members burning $100 dollar bills, but ticket buyers were confused as the money was purple and believed to be called "Phelps-Bucks".  In an official statement, WBC referred to Radiohead as "freak monkeys with mediocre tunes" and further went on to say that music should only be enjoyed by God. Thom Yorke responded on Twitter by saying that "Kid A is actually a gay robot".

Alexander Borg (@HelloAlexxander): This week I devoted my listening time to exploring the evolution of of Montreal from psychedelic twee-popkids to sex-crazed hedonists, Julia Holter's uncanny ability to use modern effects to evoke ancient feelings, and the experimental pop of The Unicorns magnum opus Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone?

Austin K (@AustinKirley): SURPRISE: Austin is still listening to too much black metal. This week's bands include Ulver, Blut Aus Nord, and Dødheimsgard.

Danny Spiteri (@dannyspiterijr): I was on sort of an "oddball female singer" kick this week, primarily by listening to a lot of Nico, but also returning to Joanna Newsom's first album and checking out the new Soap&Skin album Narrow. Big K.R.I.T.'s new mixtape is also really good.

Jack Hayter (@gonnahayt): Recommended by Flying Lotus, I've been listening to a new album by an artist called Taz Arnold. I'm still trying to get my head around what it is.

Kyle Shoemaker (@_Shoey): I got my ticket to Radiohead this week, so I've been not listening to them at all. I'm just so busy with Mass Effect 3.

Mark Gillis (@Mark__Gillis): This week I've been on a 2012 kick, so I've been listening to new albums from Trust, Said The Whale, Memoryhouse and Bear In Heaven. I have to say that Trust is the best of the bunch.

Steve Jones (@vestenet): Julia Holter continues to be amazing.  The debut album from Trust is also just the right kind of synth pop for my ears, but I'm still working my way through Andrew Bird's latest effort.

WRUB #12: Epic Edition

Death Grips shocked many this week by signing to Epic, which is a "major" label. Which means that yes: Death Grips is now on the same label as the Glee cast. In response, YPOIW has decided that Ex-Military is no longer our 2nd favorite album of 2011 and that they no longer exist to us.

What's everyone listening to?

Alexander Borg (@HelloAlexxander): This week I revisited Beat Happening's magnum opus You Turn Me On and my opinion of it has made a total 180! The reluctant drumming, flat delivery, and overall tweeness is positively charming. I also listened to Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven on vinyl for the first time and it was a religious experience.

Austin K (@AustinKirley): This week, Austin has been listening to loads of black metal, specifically early black metal such as Bathory, Hellhammer, and Hatred.

Danny Spiteri (@dannyspiterijr): I spent the first few days of my week in a largely electronic mood, with releases like Actress's Splazsh, James Blake's early EPs, and Shlohmo's Vacation EP keeping me sustained. The weekend, however, saw me indulging in some jangly pop from Galaxie 500 and R.E.M.

Jack Hayter (@gonnahayt): I'm seeing St Vincent tonight so I've been listening to plenty of her. New York MC J-Live and The Pharcyde both bumpin' hard too.

Kyle Shoemaker (@_Shoey): I was listening to the new Hodgy Beats EP until I discovered that PS I Love You put out a free "sessions" album. I've decided that this compilation is among my favorite things to ever happen.

Steve Jones (@vestenet): As of late, I am obsessed with Joe Hisaishi's soundtracks, particularly those for Princess Mononoke and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. I kind of wish Grimes made a better album, but Field Music's Plumb is still amazing.

TJ Duane (@DallasShalDune): TJ watched the NBA All Star Weekend, enjoyed the Oscars, and has been dungeon crawling through Ocarina of Time 3D.

VIDEO: Team Spirit - F*ck the Beach (NSFW)

Hey, you know Passion Pit? Well, while this may sound nothing like Passion Pit, the guy responsible for their synths Ayad Al Adhamy picked up a guitar and wrote some pretty awesome garage rock jams. Here is their video for "Fuck the Beach," taken from a five track EP which can unfortunately only be purchased at shows. The video features an animated version of the band eating hallucinogenic green ice cream and entering a giant alien women's vagina, amongst plenty of other trippy shit. This is my kinda video.

WRUB #11: Tyler, The Minotaur Edition

In order to finally get on the cover of Rolling Stone, Tyler has decided once and for all to get surgery to become a legitimate Minotaur. In other news: Tyler's lower torso complete with horse head has joined Odd Future and will be releasing a mixtape in the next few weeks. Earl Sweatshirt was not available for comment, but tweeted: "lmao, Tyler is one crazy horse nigga".

Danny Spiteri (@dannyspiterijr): I've spent much of my week listening to Burial's incredibly satisfying Kindred EP, Portico Quartet's new self-titled album, and some minimalist modern classical music from Philip Glass.

Jack Hayter (@gonnahayt): I got round to listening to Kendrick Lamar's Overly Dedicated and quite possibly prefer it over Section.80. Also bumpin' some Black Lips and Smif-N-Wessun.

Kyle Shoemaker (@_Shoey): I've also been listening to Overly Dedicated and believe it to be good, but nowhere near as good as Section.80. That's all you get out of me, listen to podcast 4 for the rest of what I was bumping this week.

Mark Gillis (@Mark__Gillis): I've started listening to Pixies this week, I'm not sure what the hell took me so long but that is some awesome music for sure. I've also been checking out some sugary 80's synth pop from Grimes and the most twee twee pop I've ever heard from Sea Lions.

Steve Jones (@vestenet): I discovered the "glitch pop" tag on RYM, so I've been glitching out with Junior Boys, Emilie Simon, Ellen Allien, and Baths.  As an avid Max Tundra fan, I should have looked into these artists much sooner.  Also, that Burial EP is good, huh?

WRUB #10: Who The FUCK is Bonny Bear? Edition

Big news everyone, last night Justin Iver of Bon Vernon won big at the Grammys. The most coveted of the 3 awards he took home is the prize for "Best New Artist", but he also won the "Best Tropical Latin Album" and "Best Eyes". Predictably, Twitter exploded with millions of people who had no idea who the fuck Bonnyvare is. Further complicating things, Kanye West made his acceptance speech and accidentally called him Justin Bieber... twice.

Alexander Borg (@HelloAlexxander): In honor of In the Aeroplane Over the Sea's fourteenth birthday, I've been revisiting a lot of classic Elephant 6 bands. Dusk at Cubist Castle by Olivia Tremor Control and Cherry Peel by of Montreal are absolutely essential records for fans of psychedelia and pop songwriting

Danny Spiteri (@dannyspiterijr): This week has seen me listening to enjoying John Talabot's solid new LP ƒIN, revisiting Andy Stott's two excellent 2011 releases Passed Me By and We Stayed Together, and celebrating J Dilla's birthday with Donuts, which is probably my favorite album of all time.

Jack Hayter (@gonnahayt): Yet another Attack On Memory fan over here. Also been enjoying Morcheeba's '96 debut and Danny Brown's Hybrid.

Kyle Shoemaker (@_Shoey): Big week for me with the premiere episode of AMC's Comic Book Men. Normally a comics themed reality show wouldn't be my thing but it's also a reality show that follows around my favorite podcast Tell 'Em Steve Dave. The series is essentially Pawn Stars with merciless ball-busting, so it's definitely the greatest thing ever. Oh, and music... and stuff.

Steve Jones (@vestenet): Given this week's revelations, I am hearing In the Aeroplane Over the Sea in an entirely new light. Also, salyu x salyu is a great substitute for a new Cornelius album (not to say I wouldn't welcome a new Cornelius album).

De La Soul - Stakes is High

It will change frequently but right now this is my number one. The loop just feels so majestic. It knows how good it is and it's flaunting itself amidst crispy snares and probably some of De La's most observational verses.

If there's a dreamier Jay beat out there, I haven't heard it. The eccentrity of The Pharcyde is a perfect match. 

Mad Skillz - The Jam

Big L sound-alike Mad Skillz is a slightly lesser known collaborator but 'The Jam' and also 'It's Going Down' from the same album are worthy of sitting next to the more distinguished tracks in James' catalogue.

Between the piano sample lifted from Galt MacDermot's "Golden Apple (Pt. 2)" and Frank Zappa's perfectly placed dialogue, "Mash" exhibits a masterful usage of sampling that in my opinion has been rivalled by very few pieces of music. - Danny

My mind truly was blown when I first heard the original sample Dilla flipped for "Waves", 10cc's "Johnny Don't Do It". It's one thing for someone to be able to hear something so drastically different out of a sample, then another to understand exactly what they need to do to that sample to produce their desired result, and yet another for that result to be so damn affecting. - Danny

This track is probably my true favorite J Dilla beat. Dilla's sample of Motherlode's "When I Die" provides maximum emotional effect, and ultimately I couldn't imagine a better way to close Donuts. - Danny & Austin.

Lana Del Rey remains a divisive force in music, that much has not changed. She began her long journey from relevant musician to Internet meme this week by being mocked on SNL's Weekend Update. In other news: atonal and off pitch singing is now known as LDRing, no word yet as of this writing if Webster is adding it to their next addition. Come on Internet, if we can turn Tebowing and Obamamania into words we can accomplish anything!

Alexander Borg (@HelloAlexxander): In preparation for Paralytic Stalks, I've been revisiting of Montreal's catalogue and let me tell you Cherry Peel is considerably different than the rest of their work!  Also Drive's soundtrack is the best thing to ever happen to me.

Austin K (@AustinKirley): Much like Mark, I too have been spinning Cloud Nothings, as well as another new album, Pop. 1280's The Horror. I also picked up an Akai MPD of my very own, so my music consumption has been a tad low this week.

Danny Spiteri (@dannyspiterijr): My week has been all about the early days of experimental rock, with The Velvet Underground, Can, Brian Eno, and The United States of America all keeping me satisfied.

Jack Hayter (@gonnahayt): I've been enjoying the new John Talabot record, some underground hip-hop from Serengeti and some classic soul from Minnie Riperton.

Kyle Shoemaker (@_Shoey): Why didn't anyone tell me that Cloud Nothings wasn't a chillwave project? Albini produced, messy records are my bread and butter. Otherwise I've been listening to Heems, The Hold Steady, and The Special Goodness' first album. 

Mark Gillis (@Mark__Gillis): I normally don't like the skramz but this week I've been loving the new Cloud Nothings LP, Attack On Memory. I think it might end up being a year end favourite of mine. Besides that I've been listening to a ton of Buck 65 because I saw him live this past week, he is one eccentric guy.

Steve Jones (@vestenet): I've been having a lot of fun with Pepe Deluxé's Queen of the Wave and Heems' Nehru Jackets. The Drive soundtrack makes me wish I owned a car.  I also surprisingly like the new Cloud Nothings, but I only listened to it once, because I'm an asshole.

TJ Duane (@DallasShalDune): I've been in a weird, manic mood. Kind of ying and yang. I've mixed a lot of aggressive Fucked Up, especially the zodiac singles, with the great melodies of Caribou. "Melody Day" is such an amazing song.

WRUB #8: Jack White Edition

This week Jack White pleased the masses by announcing his 7th solo album and first since 2007's Icky Thump. This time he's abandoned longtime terrible drummer and sex tape star Meg White in favor of not having any percussion of any kind on this new disc. Collaborators include: Insane Clown Posse, Rihanna, Kanye West, Wayne Coyne, Thom Yorke, Jesus, and Chocolate Rain Guy. His new album is entitled Blunderbuss and will be available for purchase in April.

What's everyone listening to?

Alexander Borg (@helloalexxander): Being tired of aggressive and experimental music for the time being, I listened to an absurd amount of twee pop this week. I also watched the Oscar-nominated Midnight in Paris, a compelling documentary on graphic design called Helvetica, and a high school neo-noir (that worked surprisingly well) called Brick.

Austin K. (@AustinKirley): For Austin, this week has been all about going through the Ghostly International catalog. This includes Tadd Mullinix, Dabrye, and Midwest Product. Also some Scott Walker, who is not on Ghostly.

Danny Spiteri: (@dannyspiterijr): This week, I listened to Daft Punk's Discovery for the first time in years (and wondered why I hadn't returned to it earlier), Neutral Milk Hotel's severely underrated On Avery Island, and The Fiery Furnaces' progressive pop opus Blueberry Boat.

Jack Hayter (@gonnahayt): Listening pleasures of the past week have consisted of early Sebadoh, How to Dress Well and The Love Below (causing much pining for new OutKast.)

Kyle Shoemaker (@_Shoey): Lots of Heems this week, early odds on favorite for Mixtape of the Year on my end. I also started re-watching The Wire, which is the greatest show of all time. I'm absolutely sure my life will become consumed with it once again, I'll see everyone in a month with the most rad neck beard ever.

Mark Gillis (@Mark__Gillis): This week I've been loving Kidstreet since I went to see them live, so much energy in their shows. Besides that I've been filling in my time with Ratatat and The Super Friendz.

Steve Jones (@vestenet): I've been enjoying long walks through the mountains and listening to fun weirdo synth music by Hans Edler and Takumi Iwasaki.

TTK (@TelepathicKid): I've been hooked on British comedy panel shows lately. QI, Mock the Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Would I Lie To You, etc. David Mitchell is my new god, and I think I'm in love with Frankie Boyle.

I've always been annoyed by the fact that very rarely blogs tell you how to download music. I know that big brother is scary and that YPOIW can be taken down on a moment's whim, but I'm just going to throw caution to the wind and do it anyway. I figure we're probably going to not exist in a month due to in-fighting and Steve being an asshole. Might as well increase our chances of an early demise, we had a good run right?

Alexander Borg - My highlights from this week were Charles Mingus' avant-garde masterpiece The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady, Yo La Tengo's stylistically diverse I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One, Sharon Van Etten's highly-anticipated Tramp, and Peter Jackson's directorial debut Bad Taste.

Austin K (@AustinKirley) - This week, I've been methodically reworking my way through the Fall discography (PROTIP: a lot of it isn't that good. Stick to the classics), Fugazi discography (pretty much all of it is great) and the early, super-hardcore, Hüsker Dü records.

Danny Spiteri (@dannyspiterijr) - I've spent my week enjoying the sweet, sweet Italian disco of Giorgio Moroder, Julia Holter's experimental Tragedy that I missed last year, and the ferocious hardcore hip hop of The Microphones (just kidding, atmospheric lo-fi folk, but doesn't it sound like it could be the name of a hip hop group?).

Jack Hayter (@gonnahayt) -  I've been bumping the new mixtpaes from Heems and DropxLife as well as enjoying my first taste of Mogwai.

Josh Custodio (@_allmyfriends) - This week was spent devouring the entire Of Montreal discography which I've never ears before. Varied stuff.

Kyle Shoemaker (@_Shoey) - I've been listening to Heems new mixtape Nehru Jackets and writing love songs for my computer.

Mark Gillis (@Mark__Gillis) - This week I've been trying to figure out all the references to Manitoba in the new John K. Samson album. I've also been listening to a lot of Colin Stetson and I've confirmed that he cannot possibly be human.

Steve Jones (@vestenet) - Getting back into the swing of schooltime with some dad rock greats like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, as well as the indomitable musical stylings of Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts.

TJ Duane (@dallasshaldune) - Neutral Milk Hotel for me. I got the new box set in the mail and have been spinning the records quite a bit.

TTK (@TelepathicKid) I've been listening to some old school Beck. Mellow Gold and Odelay are such classics.

God knows how or why soulful 70's outfit New Birth came up with these dark opening notes on Honeybee, but thank the lord they did, and more so that the RZA got hold of them.

WRUB #6 - WRUBCHELLA Edition

Coachella added a 2nd weekend to their 2012 edition of the festival in the hopes that  more people could see their favorite artists from half a mile away. The plan largely backfired as both weekends sold out in 3 hours. Realizing more profit could be made organizers scrambled to add as many additional weekends as needed and now Coachella 2012 is lasting a full 52 weeks. One promoter said "This is so exciting for us, Coachella only comes one time a year".

What Are You Bumpin?

Austin K (@AustinKirley) - Austin's week has been all about early electronic music, preferably of the pre-70s variety. There's way more to choose from than you might think, with Terry Riley, Morton Subotnik, and Douglas Leedy on heavy rotation.

Danny Spiteri (@dannyspiterijr) - My listening diet for the week included The Avalanches' sample-based masterpiece Since I Left You, Cornelius's extremely diverse Fantasma, and Destroyer's recent highlight Kaputt.

Jack Hayter (@gonnahayt) - This week I revisted the superb De La Soul album Stakes is High and got my first taste of Wilco with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

Josh Custodio (@_allmyfriends) - This week was spent debating Radiohead, Coachella and life.

Kyle Shoemaker (@_Shoey) - This week consisted of getting my face melted off by the likes of Ceremony, Refused, and Liturgy. I've also been trying (and failing) to comprehend the new of Montreal album Paralytic Stalks. Also, a metric fuckton of Skyrim.. I killed so many Cave Bears and Bandits, man.

Mark Gillis (@Mark__Gillis) - This week I've been listening to a ton of Elliott BROOD since I went to go seem them, and it was awesome. Besides that I've really been digging Youth Lagoon, and I've been patiently waiting for some of my anticipated 2012 albums to come out (leak).

Steve Jones (@vestenet) - I am addicted to Field Music's Plumb and of Montreal's Paralytic Stalks. 2012 is turning out to be an excellent year for music and albums that begin with "P."

TJ Duane (@dallasshaldune) - I'm getting psyched for my first Radiohead show, so I'm re-sifting through their albums in album marathons. I sprinkle each album into my playlists every week for a week. Last week I spun The Bends 10 times. I'm listening to OK Computer this week. When I listen to them all--post, Pablo, of course--I'll start back over at The Bends.

TTK (@Telepathickid) - Lately music hasn't been my main thing to bump this week. It's been episodes of The Simpsons, with the 500th episode coming up I thought I'd better do something in celebration!

WRUB #5 - Sammy Hagar is Clinically Depressed Edition

This week marked the formal announcement of a new tour and album from the band Van Halen. This announcement was made on the summit of the highest peak in this world and made by an immortal dragon. Sammy Hagar meanwhile has announced that he's currently homeless and will be attempting suicide again sometime soon. David Lee Roth has announced that he'll quit Van Halen the moment afterwards as his entire passion of the project was quote: "To piss off Hagar".

What Are You Bumpin?

Austin K. (@AustinKirley)- This week has been all about IDM for me. I've been introducing myself to Aphex Twin (I know, I should have listened to him before), dissecting the Boards of Canada discography in a major way, and bobbing my head to the mysterious Evian Christ's instrumentals. 

Danny Spiteri (@dannyspiterijr) - This week I've been digging into Massive Attack's classic Mezzanine, revisiting some of Kanye West's better albums, and listening to the always great Boards of Canada in hopes that they release some new material soon. 

Jack Hayter (@gonnahayt) - Recently I've been rather addicted to The Weeknd 
and the release of Echoes of Silence most certainly added fuel to that. I 
then sprinkled in some Fleet Foxes and We Are Trees. 

Josh Custodio (@_allmyfriends) - This week has been about learning to love metal with Alcest, leading me to realize genres aren't as far apart as I thought. 

Kyle Shoemaker (@_Shoey) - What's music? I've been playing Skyrim side-quests until my eyes bleed. What is with Bethesda games and cannibalism anyway?

Steve Jones (@vestenet) - This week, I have been murdering bandits,
assassinating emperors, and slaying dragons to the gorgeous works of Mr.
Jeremy Soule.

TTK (@TelepathicKid) - Been listening to a winning combination of the consistently great Beck, the drum 'n' bass era of Aphex Twin, and The XX in preparation for their supposed new record to be dropped this year.

Danny Spiteri (@dannyspiterijr) - I've used the last seven days to finish catching up on the 2011 albums I've been meaning to get around to, including the video game reminiscent sounds of Rustie's Glass Swords, the hyperactivity of the Beastie Boys' Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, and the extremely bassy dub techno of Andy Stott's Passed Me By.

Jack Hayter (@gonnahayt) - I managed to find time in-between losing my voice to bump the awesome Big Baby Gandhi mixtape and Undun from the never-disappointing Roots.  

Josh Custodio (@_allmyfriends) -  This week has been full of defending Micheal Buble, listening to Public Image Ltd, making Christmas songs, and wishing I was in half as good shape as Justin Vernon.

Kyle Shoemaker (@_Shoey) - I spent this week listening to albums that I already love to make sure they deserve their high placement on my year end list. Danny Brown's XXX, La Dispute's Wildlife, and Childish Gambino's Camp to name a few. I've also been eating high caloric foods and making fun of Justin Vernon while secretly wishing that I had his body.

Mark Gillis (@Mark__Gillis) - This week I've been way more busy studying for exams than I have been listening to music. I've just been bumpin' number theory and game theory all week, does that sound fun to everyone? 

Nick Weber (@Testiclops) - This week I've been pleasing myself with the sultry sounds of Omega Massif, Sleepmakeswaves, and Stateless. These new albums are making my ear-boner more swollen than Justin Vernon's sciatic nerve.
