TRACK: The Smittens - "Burning Streets of Rome"

This is described as "gay indiepop disco floor-filler," which is exactly what the song is, and all of the words following this sentence are unnecessary.

The Smittens are from Vermont, and they sound about as twee as twee can be, to me. This single comes in anticipation of their upcoming Believe Me LP, which is due July 25th on Fika Recordings. "Burning Streets of Rome" is a light, cute, and fun piece of pop that definitely calls back to the sunshine days of popular music. This, combined with the singer's timbre, also gives me a few Magnetic Fields vibes. But really, my favorite part is that it is bold enough to use the phrase "bubblegum, bubblegum, panic attack, it's a cute boy who likes me back" as its refrain.

Listen to it below and have an adorable day.
