It's been a couple of years since we've heard from Four Tet in the context of a full-length LP, but the veteran electronic producer has been releasing a fairly steady stream of singles via his Text Records label throughout the past few months. It began with last year's "Locked" / "Pyramid," then continued earlier this year with the Burial collaboration "Nova", May's "Jupiters" / "Ocoras," and now "128 Harps."
As the title suggests, "128 Harps" is heavy on harps, which contributes to Four Tet's characteristically organic aesthetic. The instrument adds a beautiful touch to the song, but what completes the equation is a skipping vocal sample that provides a simple yet memorable melody. Although this single is enjoyable, as well as the others Four Tet has been releasing, it's difficult to keep my mouth from watering for a new album from the guy.
Stream the track below, and keep an eye on Text Records for its release.
