When it comes to twee pop, you usually think of sweet and sugary songs that make you see rainbows and unicorns. While Love Cuts offer up some of this sentiment, they deliver in a way that is about as rough around the edges as you'll find any modern day twee pop.
Throughout the 5 songs of this release, the all female trio are incredibly messy. It almost seems like some of these songs could fall apart at the seams at any moment. Slap some atonal female vocals that border on screaming at times and it doesn't seem like you should have something desirable to listen to at all. But rather than a messy mess, Love Cuts manage to come off as more of a beautiful mess. If you're a fan of twee pop at all, I don't think you'll be able to shake the infectious nature of these songs very quickly at all. Sometimes you just need to be cheered up and I think these ladies can do a fine job of it with their music.
