TRACK: Ceremony - "Hysteria"

Ceremony has never been the most accessible band in hardcore, but with a move to Matador coming it appears they might be willing to try that next. "Hysteria" is the lead single off of their new album Zoo and it doesn't sound anything like I've heard this band sound like in the past. That covers record they put out apparently isn't bullshit because I'm hearing a lot of influences from the past on this song, notably bands like Wire in the Pink Flag era and maybe a little Ian Mackaye thrown in for good measure. Their 3rd album Rohnert Park was a huge change towards less abrasive styles and it appears that Zoo is taking that even further.

  1. crazy Ceremony fans will tell you that this sounds like Green Day or My Chemical Romance... those people don't really understand the history of punk, I think.
