As part of an upcoming compilation that will feature various Detroit MCs rapping over previously unreleased J Dilla beats, Danny Brown has contributed a track named "Jay-Dee's Revenge." The song also comes with a video, which you can watch below.
Dilla's production is unsurprisingly great, but what really allows it to shine is how well Brown's delivery works in conjunction with it. In my mind, it almost sounds like it was made for him. Of course, Brown brings verses that are highly engaging as usual, pairing his unmistakeably distinctive cadence with relentless flow.
Look for the entire release, which will be titled Rebirth of Detroit, on June 12 via Yancey Media Group and Ruff Draft.
