WEEK IN REVIEW: 5/27 - 6/2

Week in Review is a feature you can find here on this blog every Saturday where I go over noteworthy events in the past week that are often related to music but sometimes aren't. If you have any questions or just feel like chatting it up, I'm always down to talk on twitter regarding this feature or anything else you can think of (stalkers welcome).

*Divine Fits have released a 45 second teaser trailer for the band. Divine Fits, as previously mentioned  is a super group featuring Britt Daniel from Spoon and Dan Boekner from Wolf Parade & Handsome Furs, they will be releasing their debut album on Merge later this year. Not much is known about the project other than who's involved, but the teaser definitely has a sound that doesn't stray too far from what Dan was doing with Handsome Furs.

*The Tins have released a music video for "Vicki" from their debut album Life's A Gas out independently on July 2nd. Anyone that's a huge fan of sunny harmonies and brutal homicide should really watch it. I'd also recommend you watch the fantastic video for Tins EP stand-out "The Green Room" if you find yourself with 7 spare minutes. You'll find that bizarre characters with glasses are a running theme in videos from this Buffalo, NY based trio.

*Blistering hardcore punk band Trash Talk has signed to Odd Future's label... it's perfect. Of course this can only mean they're targeting Cerebral Ballzy next. Odd Future "spokesman" L-Boy said the following regarding the signing.

"So them muthafu***** ova at Odd Future records done signed a fu***** group of crackas and ni**** in a hardcore punk band called Trash Talk. I mean it makes sense since Odd Future fans is them white ni**** anyway. Trash Talk is supposed to be releasing they album called “119″ or some sh** thru they Trash Talk Collective Label in the fall.. don’t ask me what the f*** that means cuz I don’t fu*****  kno. I asked Tyler’s trick ass what he thought about that sh** and I really didn’t give a f*** so I’m not gone put that sh** on here. Them Trash Talk ni**** is currently over in Europe with them musty muthaf******.
If you give a f*** about they sh**t then  listen to them ni**** EP on iTunes called Awake or watch the fuckin video ni*** (below)."

*Ween broke up, not a single shit was given.

Nas has released a new single and video from his upcoming album Life Is Good. The track, "Daughters" chronicles his experience raising his daughter Destiny Jones. The video appropriately stars both Nas and his daughter and features her doing some not so great things. It's really nice to hear Nas doing meaningful verses about his life again, this track is wonderful. Life Is Good is out July 27th on Def Jam.
